Dozens of protesters were detained during a march in New York City, on Thursday, against allegations of unwanted hysterectomies of immigrant women at a Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centre in Georgia, after whistleblower complaints from one of the nurses at the centre.
The police officers could be seen arresting over 15 protesters on the streets of New York City, who took to the streets to protest against the alleged procedures.
According to reports, following the complaint by nurse Dawn Wooten, the US Department of Homeland Security has opened an investigation into the allegations that immigrant women have been subjected to unwanted surgical procedures at the privately ran Irwin County Detention Center in Georgia, resulting in them being unable to conceive.
